Use the official pack defaults as your baseline. If you troubleshoot performance, change one standard game setting at a time, test in the same area for several minutes, and record the result before making another change. Avoid changing advanced mod configuration or disabling pack components unless support specifically recommends it.

Stutters and frame drops

Performance can vary with hardware, location, shaders, render distance, and other applications running at the same time.

1. Close unnecessary background applications.
2. Confirm that Prism Launcher is using Java 21.
3. Test with the pack's supplied settings first.
4. Adjust one standard video setting at a time and compare frame time and responsiveness in a repeatable location.
5. If performance worsens, restore the previous setting before testing something else.

Keep notes about where the issue happens and whether it occurs in a new single-player world as well as on the server. That comparison can make support requests easier to diagnose.

Java launch errors

ChudCraft requires Java 21. If the game closes immediately or reports an incompatible Java version, verify the Java runtime selected for the instance.

Install Java 21

Eclipse Temurin 21 is a free OpenJDK distribution. Select the installer appropriate for your operating system and processor architecture, install it, and restart Prism Launcher if it was open during installation.

Select Java 21 in Prism Launcher

1. Open Prism Launcher and select the ChudCraft instance.
2. Click Edit Instance.
3. Open Settings.
4. Enable the instance-specific Java installation override if needed.
5. Click Auto-detect and select a Java 21 runtime.
6. Save the selection and launch the game again.

Keep the Java arguments and memory settings supplied by the official pack. If Java 21 is not listed, restart Prism Launcher and run auto-detection again.

Connection issues

The verified game address is play.chudgames.com; do not add a port. Confirm that you are launching the official ChudCraft instance for Minecraft 1.21.1 and NeoForge 21.1.249.

The public live map can help confirm whether the map service is reachable, but it does not indicate whether your game client is correctly configured.
